What is Manual Lymphatic Drainage?

Manual Lymphatic Drainage, often referred to as MLD is a gentle technique. MLD is not massage. Unlike massage therapy in which the muscle is manipulated, MLD gently stretches the skin. This stimulates the lymphatic vessels to open and move lymphatic fluid to the lymph nodes. The nodes clean and filter this fluid and recirculate it through the body. MLD is used to help in swelling reduction, pain relief and increase range of motion. Due to its gentle nature, MLD can be used to help those with autoimmune disorders, cancer, lymphedema, and post-op swelling. Using the Vodder method, which was first studied in 1932 by Dr. Emil Vodder, it is a precise and focused technique. By receiving MLD you can reduce swelling and pain, boost your immune system and overall well-being.

Since MLD helps you drain, it's important to hydrate before and after a session and with added electrolytes if desired.
